DIY Before and After – Ombre Chevron Spray Paint

This is an easy DIY makeover you can apply to pretty much anything you can paint. This trash can has been begging for an update for years for fear of being donated to Goodwill.  So, it got a makeover and a quick paint job.  Not just any paint job ... DIY ombre chevron spray paint makeover!! This is truly an easy beginner DIY project. I used 1/4" tape to tape off the chevron pattern.  I did not measure, I simply eyeballed it and taped away. Make sure the tape is really taped to the surface or you will get some bleeding through (which happened on mine, but that's okay) First, I used Krylon Silver Metallic Spray Paint and covered the whole trash can. Let dry Then, starting at the … [Read more...]

Doodle with Fabric Markers

This post is sponsored but the ideas and the opinions are all mine! Fabric markers make creating fashion so easy and fun.  I love the different packs with all of the bright colors from Tulip brand with iLovetoCreate. The possibilities with these fabric markers are kinda, well, endless ... I started out with playing around with a white Tshirt and doodled some cute hearts on it.  I used water and a little paint brush to make the marker ink blend together like a watercolor painting. Then, my girlfriend was celebrating a birthday ... so I played some more and decorated a couple of kitchen towels ... How fun are those lil' houses, eh?! Then I had just gone to Goodwill and bought these … [Read more...]

DIY ‘Frozen’ Inspired Pillowcase

I have given in to the Frozen hoop-la.  My children are boys, but they have watched Frozen {and enjoyed it}. You should see them when I sing the theme song to them.  They run for the hills!! {ahem ... Let it Go, Let it Go ...} Given that I have boys, I have dodged the bullet on all the character meetings at Disney, the Frozen gowns at Halloween, and the dolls, etc etc etc. BUT I am secretly slipping Frozen inspired projects and 'Frozen' Family PJ's right under their sweet little nose without them even blinking an eye. My most recent is a pillow ... they actually LIKE it ... probably because it's blue and grey and shiny. The best part is that it's painted and sewn!  Two of my favorite … [Read more...]

Don’t replace your ceiling fan – Paint it!

Save your money and paint the darn thing! Paint your ceiling fan! We moved in 5 years ago and I've wanted to change out my ceiling fans for new ones ever since we looked at it.  Every time I go to Lowes or Home Depot, I look at the fans.  I look the next time and the next.... Then I'd go home and think, I should paint mine.  Then I'd think of taking it down, taking it apart and painting it.  Then I'd cringe. Then I'd be at Lowes, I'd look at the ceiling fans again ... and, look at the price and think about taking the old one down and putting the new one up.  Then I think about painting them again. See, it's been a vicious cycle. Try being in my brain ... It's totally ADHD {no … [Read more...]
