Taradara Gives Back – Girls with Sole

I figured a Leap Year was the PERFECT way to announce this wonderful news!

I’ve been wanting to give back in some monetary way to a special non-profit organization for some time now.

Taradara will donate 10% of our total revenue to GIRLS WITH SOLE.

Liz Ferro {the founder} and I have been ‘friends’ for just under 6 months.  I really like her and love her passion to help incorporate sports in to young abused girls’ lives.

I wasn’t abused, but I was very athletic as a young girl and teenager and know the influence it had on my life.  Sports is a very important part of my life even now, and I remember every one of my coaches growing up and how they impacted my life and some of the decisions I made.  We weren’t rich, but we were able to afford for my brother and I to play organized sports, I was lucky.  With Girls With Sole, girls who don’t have the resources {money and positive influences} in their lives CAN play sports and CAN have positive influences that will shape their lives.  The coaches and organizers of the events are such special people and do it out the kindness of their hearts because they know they are making a difference in these young girls’ lives.

Liz is a gifted women who overcame adversity herself and turned it in to something truly extraordinary.

Girls With Sole’s Mission is:
“Use fitness and wellness to empower the minds, bodies and souls of girls who have experienced abuse of any kind, or who are at-risk.”

Their Vision/Goal is:
“Girls With Sole will offer a large variety of fitness and wellness programs, including yoga, dance and
traditional team sports to girls who need someone to believe in them so that they may believe in themselves. Many of these girls who have experienced abuse would otherwise have no place to participate in sports or group exercise in a safe environment, or have access to group athletics.
Focusing on healthy living, good nutrition, exercise and wellness will help girls make healthier choices in other parts of their lives – making a positive impact on our community as a whole.”

“Girls With Sole is a local nonprofit organization in need of your support so that we can provide fitness and wellness programs completely free of charge to girls who have experienced abuse.”

Girls With Sole takes monetary donations and also donations to provide shoes, sports bras, and fitness journals to girls ages 9-18 who have experienced abuse of any kind, or who are at-risk.

If you’re wondering how you can donate to Girls With Sole, click here for details.  They are affiliated with United Way, so you can also donate through your workplace {and they may match your donation}.
