DIY Furniture Makeover – Sewing and Painting

DIY Furniture Makeover

HI!!  Hey, it's been awhile.  Trust me it's not because I haven't had anything to say or to share, it's just because I have been busy DOING things.  You wouldn't believe all the projects completed and on the go. We have had this bench seat for years and I've threatened to donate it for years.  BUT, I decided I could totally do something funky with it.  It just took years to get just the right inspiration and time to make this DIY project happen.  It's all about perseverance, right? Here is this tropical bench begging for a facelift... Can you believe it hung around for as long as it did?  Like, I'm seriously talking YEARS! Clearly, from the next picture you can see that it … [Read more...]

Dining Room Chairs … get a makeover

DIY Chair makeover - Craigslist is a great place to find furniture to makeover and give new life to

Another DIY furniture makeover. I bought these country style chairs and the dining room table for $30 off of Craigslist {of course!} with a plan.  We didn't have enough furniture to fill our home as we moved from a smaller house to one that is double the size. I thought they were kind of ugly, but there was certainly potential there.  So, I took off the cushion, painted the chair, recovered the cushion, and put it all back together again.  It contrasts nicely with the DIY hutch makeover that I did with a black base with blue as the main color. The chairs {and the table, whenever it gets done} are painted black with a blue base. What do you think? First stage I just made a quick pass … [Read more...]

Mod Podge Paper

Use Mod Podge to help cover almost any eyesore! I love how it transformed the inside of this 'treasure chest' #diy

I just painted this chest with a Modern Masters Metal Effects kit and felt that it wouldn’t be complete without the inside being made over as well.  I ripped out the old wall paper that had been in there for what seemed to be someone’s lifetime.  It surprisingly had adhered very well for a very long time, but it also came out just fine.  Check it out... Painful surgery right here.  That little patch above on the right ... stayed right there ... shhh ... nobody will know. I tried to use contact paper, let’s just say, it was a FAILED attempt ... a HORRIBLY FAILED ATTEMPT It wouldn't stick to the sides.... So, don't waste your time or your contact paper on this … [Read more...]

Baseboard Update #6 – The Living Room

baseboards

... Remember Them? So, yes, I've been slacking horribly in this department of my life. The Baseboards. It's pretty easy to do.  Not sure why I haven't just done it.  Oh yeah, life got in the way. The Golden Globe Gift Bag project, my mom coming to visit, Christmas, New Years, yadda yadda yadda ... Well, I'm here to announce that I have finished the Living Room {they have been done since BEFORE Christmas}!  I just got around to taking photos of them today ... the crazy huge tree was in the way! Do you know good it feels to cross this room off the list?  VERY GOOD! Now it's on to the Dining Room ... of which, I think I might just end up painting the whole room while I'm at it like … [Read more...]

Before and After

before and after

Goodwill is the place to shop! It's seriously hard to leave Goodwill without buying something! With my craft show that I had coming up, I needed a few props or holders for my products.  And low and behold, I found some at Goodwill for next to nothing as it was on a 50% off Saturday! I love this curio shelf!  Love the price even more $3!!!! a bit beat up, but nothing a little spray paint won't fix... Beauty, right! And this $1.50 sweet find, didn't care much for the bees buzzing around on it ... But, again, a can of spray paint can make almost anything look great! Perfect for my bracelet cuff display! And I found a GOLD wire Christmas Tree, but the gold just wasn't doing it for me. … [Read more...]

Buffet Makeover with Spray Paint

buffet makeover

Very easy DIY for your ugly buffet! Craigslist is a wonderful wonderful WONDERFUL place! I got this tired ol' wine cabinet/buffet for $15! I love it's detailing on the doors!  I HAD to have it!  The top opens and folds over for double the serving space.  LOVE THAT!!! BUT, it couldn't come in until it was made presentable {for our home}. So, it's been sitting in our garage for quite awhile as I tried to figure out how I wanted it to look after painting it. Well, the day came when I just said 'screw it', I'm just going to SPRAY PAINT it! ********* Here's what I did to it: I spray painted the edges and detail with black spray paint and let it dry. Then I went over it completely … [Read more...]
