Paint your ceiling – The 5th Wall

Have you ever heard of your ceiling referred to as the ‘5th Wall’?

This is a must see transformation! The 5th Wall is awesome! #painting #diyMe neither until my amazingly talented interior design genius friend, Karen T., assisted me with a project … from her HOUSE in New Mexico!!  Yeah, she helped me over the phone by looking at pictures and looking at the same paint deck as me.  It was truly amaze balls at how flipping awesome she is!!

Okay, well, she convinced me to paint my ceiling, the ‘5th wall’,  periwinkle.  Because, as I’ve always said, “life is too short for white walls” … including the ceiling apparently

This is a must see transformation! The 5th Wall is awesome! #painting #diyYup, you are reading this correctly.  I have wanted to paint and makeover my front room for 5 years now but never had because I didn’t have a clue of which direction I wanted to go with it.  But, thanks to Karen, I got some clarity {and a some balls} and went with it.

This is a must see transformation! The 5th Wall is awesome! #painting #diyHey, it’s just paint!  If I don’t like it, I could just paint it back….

This is a must see transformation! The 5th Wall is awesome! #painting #diyI’m so happy I did it.  During the painting of the 5th wall, I will be honest and say that I had to sit on it for a few days before I pushed through.  I painted a bit and it freaked me out slightly.  BUT, now that I completed it and there’s no definitive lines between the original white and the periwinkle, it looks so good!

This is a must see transformation! The 5th Wall is awesome! #painting #diyNo longer freaked out…

This is a must see transformation! The 5th Wall is awesome! #painting #diyIt was awesome as she really brought the color wheel to life again for me.  We went with ‘olive green’ on 2 of the smaller walls and PURPLE on the main feature wall.  With the purple, she suggested that I bring orange in as it’s on the opposite side of the color wheel.

How handy as I have this colorful orange painting I did many years ago that has been hung in the front room for nobody to in enjoy as it was hidden on a wall that nobody would really see coming in to the room.

Decorating with the color wheel. You need to see this transformation #painting #diyThe purpose of this post is to talk about the ceiling, but the rest of the room has come together nicely.

I spray painted this lamp to bring in the orange/copper to the other side of the room.
There is so much to this room that I cannot wait to share with you …

one post at a time …

sounds like a 12 step program …

it kind of is…
