  3. I have a pair of harvest gold mittens that my grandmother knit me when I was about 13 years old. I still have them… and I’m now approaching…ahem…60. She’s been gone many, many years and I just love that she knit every single stitch just for me. This is a little piece of her heart in every single stitch. The perfect gift!!!

  7. My Grandma made my sister and I a matching hat and scarf set when we were in middle school. She crocheted them. They were white with a navy blue fringe on the end of the scarf and a huge navy ball on top of the hat. I still have mine and that was about 45 years ago!

I can’t choose just one handmade gift, I have too many children. although my aunt made them quilts before they were born and they have to top the list. She is who inspired me to begin quilting myself.

  18. Anything my kids make me is usually pretty special. But I have a stained glass unicorn that my grandma made me when I was around 7 and that thing has traveled all over with me. Right now it hangs in the window over my sewing machines. She’s the one who taught me to sew when I was little and I think of her every time I see the unicorn she made me.

  19. Best homemade gift I’ve ever received are “Aunt Helen Blankets”. My great aunt Helen sewed simple little flannel quilts for every baby born into the family, for several generations. I have one, my mother and sisters all have one, and each of my kids have one. She passed when my youngest was 4 months old so he was the last to get a blanket, and they are so precious.
