IKEA Creative Hack – Mod Podge + Cork Trivets

I have had these IKEA cork trivets in my studio for forever and a day. In fact I bought them way back when we had the Denver IKEA clock blogger challenge.  So I bought them thinking I was going to do something with them but never had any inspiration. Hark, inspiration hit and I went with it! I've been in to burlap lately {see my Burlap Flower tutorial} and thought I should put some on these cork trivets. How to decorate Cork Trivets Place the round cork trivet on burlap and cut around it.  Then use Mod Podge as a glue, apply it with a foam brush.  Press the burlap on and let dry. Go around the edges and apply Mod Podge as well to keep the burlap edges from fraying. Then I got some … [Read more...]

Pre-Emmys Interview with Real TV Films

I know it was like so 2 weeks ago, but I wanted to share this video in the Emmys Gifting Lounge held at The W Hotel in Hollywood, CA.  Tia Barr is the host for Real TV Films for the Emmy's Gift Lounge ... she was so cute!!! Featuring The Artisan Group It was such a blast to be a part of. Hope you enjoy it! I love representing all the artisans from all over the world!  It is such a 'high' for me and I love sharing the Handmade talent with celebrities and Hollywood!!!  It's something they wouldn't probably be exposed to most times, but going to these gifting lounges allows them to be exposed and for them to SEE all the amazing talent that makes The Artisan Group!!! … [Read more...]

Craft Projects on Daily Craft TV

I had the pleasure of going to the Sew News studios and taping 2 one hour segments for Daily Craft TV!!! It was so great to have hair and make up done once again!  It's always so nice to not have to do it yourself!  Sorry for the grainy picture ... iPhone snapshot ... I got to tape with Nikki of Sew News, she was a great host and kept things moving along smoothly.  Isn't she a doll!  I think next time, I'll wear heels!  And we'll take the picture together at the BEGINNING of the shoot so I'm fresh!  Talking all day took a lot out of me ... who knew that could be possible???!!! An hour is a LONG time to tape without many cuts!!!  We pretty much tape the whole segment continuously, so … [Read more...]

How to make Burlap Flowers

How to make Burlap Flowers  I'm very excited to share this tutorial with you today I made these curtains and needed some tiebacks, but didn't want boring or anything without some interest.  I saw this picture and pinned it awhile ago and knew that I wanted to make  myself a pair of these beautiful flowers for my curtains in my front room. I love texture, so burlap fit the bill pretty good for that and would hold it's shape very well. You can use these flowers to decorate a room for a party, or for a gift decoration, or for curtain tiebacks, or to decorate your guest bathroom towels.  You can use it to add dimension and interest to almost anything that is missing that … [Read more...]
