DIY Room Makeover – Broncos Room

I have been wanting to paint my 7 year old boy’s room since we moved in.

His walls were white for too long!

I asked him what color he’d like his room.  His response has been, “I would like a Bronco Room”, since the first time I asked him.

And that’s what he finally got!!!

You HAVE to read the story behind the ‘Broncos’ writing on the wall {below}

I completed his room yesterday morning which is perfect timing for the BRONCO’S BIG GAME DAY!

We are UNITED IN ORANGE!  GO BRONCOS!!!

Check out what this mom did for her son! The story behind the 'Broncos' is so sweet!

It was a bit intense knowing his walls were going to be orange and blue.  It took a little bit to decide how to put the colors together and incorporate them so it wasn’t too busy.  Blue stripes went along the top and bottom and a large orange stripe around the center was the final decision.  I’m happy with that, and so is my boy.

Check out my boy and our neighbor, Mr G.  Now Mr G. has had season tickets to the Broncos since I’ve been alive {like 29 years or so}.  Can you believe that?  Now THAT’S a FAN, baby!!  He came over after going to a game in his jersey, and check them out … both in 80!

He decided he wanted the Broncos logo painted on the wall.  And that’s what he got…

I took one of their Bronco footballs and drew the logo on the wall with chalk and started painting.

This is his view that he wakes up to every morning.  Lucky boy!!

The BEST, the VERY VERY BEST part of this whole room is this right here…

A mom let her son write on the wall and painted over it exactly how he wrote it ... Such a sweet story

He picked up the chalk I used to outline the logo.  He sat down on my chair, then he picked up the football and set it in his lap.  Looked at it and started writing on the wall.  He slowly, mindfully, and carefully wrote ‘BRONCOS’ on the wall under the logo. When he was done, he turned to me and said, “Mom, can you go over this with blue paint?  I wrote it in my best printing.”

How could I say no?

He completely stole my heart right at that moment.

He went to bed in his brother’s room and I painted carefully over his chalk lines.

When he woke up this morning and went in to his room to see his completed Broncos logo.  He saw his printing on the wall.  His face beamed and he put his arms around my waist and buried his head into me.  He looked at it again and said, “I love it, Mom”

That is the best part of his whole room!

  1. Beautiful! I love that you included his handwriting. We’re a Broncos family too, since we live in Denver. ;)

  2. These aren’t tears in my eyes…I just have allergies…sniff…Such a sweet story that your son will always remember!! I have wonderful memories of my two sons and their love for the Broncos. They are both grown men now and live out of state but will forever bleed orange & blue :-)

  3. I want a Bronco room!!! Love it! Lucky kiddo.

  4. I was going to say the logo is the best part of the room. I can’t believe you did it freehand! But really the Broncos underneath it is the clearly the best thing in the room.

  5. Tara, your son’s room looks beautiful. You have done such a beautiful job for this. Seriously I love this Bronco room. I am also a mom of two children’s, one girl and one boy. Now I will try to decorate my kid’s as like you.

Oh my goodness, I love this room and love the story behind it. It caused my allergies to kick in too.
