Blogging Tips – What I Wished I Knew When I Started Blogging Recap II

Happy Holidays!

I hope you’re all getting in to the holiday spirit and embracing that Christmas is just around the corner!  Whether we’re ready for it or not, here it comes!!!  For the next few weeks, I’m going to be highlighting the Bloggers that have been so gracious to participate in this series.  It’s such a busy time of year that a lot of us don’t have much time to blog on our own blogs, let alone guest post.  So, I hope to refresh some memories and highlight some tips from the past few months …

Balance is the key.  I love my readers, but ultimately it comes down to being there for and WITH your family.  I wish I had learned that lesson a bit earlier in my blogging career.  I struggled with this issue for several months before realizing that having set hours and a schedule were mandatory for my family life.  Now I don’t feel bad about not having a post.  I also feel that it is important to have a passion for what you are doing.  If you don’t have a passion for it and are willing to do it for free, your readers will be able to sense this.  Opportunities will come to you if you are patient.  And just because an opportunity comes along, doesn’t mean that it is a good fit for you and your blog.  I have learned to become very picky about what I share on my blog as I feel responsible to my readers for being true and honest to myself and them.”  Read more….

“My one “techy tip” no matter what platform you use to publish your blog: Word Press/ Blogger/ Type Pad. Find out how to title your images.

I am now with wordpress, and wordpress does this for you. But when I was with blogger, I learned the HTML of how to title my images, and I think this is a good thing to know if you want more people to find you.
I am constantly doing Google searches, and I search the images. If your images are not titled, then google cannot find them. So…learn how to title your images for a little added bonus of SEO. :)”   Read more…
