Kids Ski School ~ Loveland Colorado

I remember the days of getting up at the crack of dawn to drive up to the ski hill in BC when I was younger.  History is repeating itself, up at 5:30am to drive up to Loveland Ski area to take the boys to Ski School.  It was an early start, but that’s part of the skiing experience {in my eyes}.

We got up to the hill, got checked in, rentals for the boys, and straight in to Ski School.  The process was smooth and I loved how everything was close by, trekking around in ski boots for little people is not ideal and no fun.  It was very convenient for all the whole family.

They have an area, Children’s Ski and Snowboard Center, which is where they get all the kiddos organized and ready for their lessons.  Parents are able to sign their kids in, but after that, it’s a Parent Free zone ;)  They get your cell number in case they need you for any reason.  But it’s a place for the kids to have lots of fun, eat, take breaks, and warm up from the cold.  There are an abundance of instructors in there {I was really impressed by how much help is there for all the kids}.

Loveland is a pretty decent sized hill.  There is an area dedicated just for Ski School for kids and adults alike.  Right beside this area is a chair lift perfect for the beginner skier who is taking lessons {or is just learning to ski}.  It’s the perfect sized hill, not too steep nor long.

Loveland Ski Area is a great place to learn to ski for all ages

They make the ski lesson area fun for the kids.  Check out the little flowers to zig zag through!  The instructors are able to connect with the kids on their level.  As I watched while I was taking photos, I heard the instructors interacting with the kiddos and were really fun and excited to be there.  It really makes a difference for the kids to have that enthusiasm in a class.  The picture below on the right is the hill I was talking about above.  The perfect hill for the beginner skier or snowboarder.

Lil T Rex was in the Level 3 ski lesson and they wasted no time getting them up on the chair lift.  Sometimes I think that’s the kid’s most favorite part of skiing!  I know he loved it.  I was a bit nervous as I can be a bit freaked out about letting lil T Rex do certain things being that he’s 5, etc.  Translation: I was a bit nervous that he might move a certain way and fall off the chairlift.  I was comforted to see him hanging on, for one.  And two, the chairlift does not appear to be as high up off the ground as some of the more longer larger chair lifts.

The boys passed their level and will be taking the next level up in the near future.  I’m so glad they has such a wonderful time and I cannot wait to bring them back up to Loveland Ski Area!!!!

Loveland is offering a fabulous 3 Class Pass Program.

All children, 6-14, that complete three full lesson packages (includes lesson, lift ticket, equipment and lunch) are rewarded with a FREE season pass after the third lesson is completed.  Parents may also pre-purchase the lessons so the child can use the season pass all winter long.  We have a lot of people do this because it allows the children to practice between lessons.  The price for three lessons is $297 if they are pre-purchased – pretty good deal as a child season pass is currently $179.  Lessons are $104 each, but are $99 if they are booked at least 48 hours in advanced.

We also offer a 3 Class Pass for adults skiing or snowboarding for the first time.  And this is an even better deal.  $289 for 3 full lesson packages, starting with a full day newcomer lesson package, and a season pass.  This product can also be pre-purchased, but the season pass is only valid at The Valley(Chair 3 & 7) until the third lesson is completed.  Adult season passes are currently $399 so this is an amazing deal for adults looking to learn to ski or snowboard.

“We are very proud of Loveland Valley – our beginner area.  The fact that it is separate from the main area makes it a great place for children and adults to learn – mellow slopes, slow moving Chair, no other runs crossing the bunny hill and guests don’t have to worry about people flying down the hill as they try to learn.” ~ A Loveland repesentative

It looks like fun for sure. I love their freebies deal. I can definitely relate to the feeling of “wow, they’re so little – but they are letting them on the lift already?!?!” feeling. But, that is probably why they have the parent free zone. Loveland also does a “Ski Hooky” day with a radio station in town and you get really cheap lift tickets – but it is on a Thursday usually.

  7. We have been curious about Loveland since it is the closest ski area to Denver, sounds like we should look into it next season since Ski Season is almost over, right?
