Etsy Shop Spotlight – Magic Senses

I’d like to introduce you to a fellow artisan from The Artisan Group.  Betty doesn’t have an ‘etsy shop’, however, she has some wonderful soaps … and a discount code for y’all at the end of her interview…

What do you make/sell?

We make designer glycerin soap in over 45 fragrances and designs that will wow the person you love. We also make moisturizing shea body butter. For those customers who absolutely love our soap, we offer Soap Subscriptions.

We founded Magic Senses® in 2005 and never looked back! And what a journey it’s been! Since we started, we have had the opportunity to meet thousands of people, make a lot of friends and help a few charities, like “Dizzy Feet Foundation” founded by producer Nigel Lythgoe, director Adam Shankman, “Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba and actress Katie Holmes. We created a soap collection called “Dance” – 20% of every bar from this collection goes to “Dizzy Feet Foundation” for scholarships.

Who/what inspires you?

Fragrances! Do you know that type of fragrance you fall in love with and want to smell again and again? Well, this is how it all starts… with a fragrance we love!

Where do you create?

Magic Senses® is a home-based business therefore our home is our studio! J

Well, this is a tricky one! Mainly we have two great challenges:

1. Website maintenance which includes the security of our customer’s information – we have to stay up to date with the latest PCI compliance requirements and the version of the shopping cart software.
2. Making sure the descriptions of our products are as accurate as possible because our customers cannot smell over the Internet (yet!). Describing a fragrance is not as easy as it may seem!

Any way we can: from business cards and craft shows to newsletters, blogs, search engines and social media (YouTube videos, Pinterest, Twitter, Google+,Facebook, StumbleUpon,etc). So far, we have been featured in Debbi K. Kickham’s best seller: “The Globetrotter’s Get-Gorgeous Guide” and dozens of websites over the Internet. We are excited to announce that Magic Senses® soap will be gifted to celebrities and attending guests at the GBK Academy Awards Gift Lounge this February!

However, none of these would have happened if the product didn’t speak for itself.

What advice would you give to other store owners?

Dream BIG and make it happen! Be bold and raise the bar every time!
